Highs soared into the 80s in most central Florida neighborhoods Friday, and it looks like these well-above average temperatures are here to stay for a while.

Temperatures across the peninsula were a good six to 10 degrees above average Friday afternoon as they topped out in the upper 70s and lower 80s. We had plenty of clouds around, but mixed in enough sun to keep it bright.

We’ll hold lows in the 60s overnight and may wake up with patchy fog. As high pressure continues to dominate the western Atlantic, our wind will remain out of the southeast Saturday. Moisture may be squeezed out in an isolated shower or two, but most of us will stay rain-free with highs into the low to mid-80s.

Southerly winds are set to draw in deeper moisture Sunday into Monday, with a 40 percent rain chance both days. We may even hear a few rumbles of thunder.

Highs Sunday into next week are forecast to stay in the low to mid-80s. Air you can wear has returned.

We start our weekend mornings with poor to fair surfing conditions thanks to wave heights around three to four feet high, but as the day progresses, the surf becomes mushy thanks to a windswell mix.

The UV index is forecast to be high enough this weekend for a good sunburn in under 30 minutes, so don’t forget the sunscreen and make sure to reapply.
