How much does Randy Dagostino mean to the Berkeley Prep volleyball program?

So much so that the Bucs want his name forever etched in program history. In an honor befitting Berkeley’s former head coach who helped guide Bucs teams to 15 state championships, Berkeley officials surprised Dagostino with a ceremony Friday night to announce the new court will be named “Coach Dag Court.”

Berkeley Prep athletic director Bobby Reinhart presented Dagostino with a piece of board from the former court where he left an indelible mark in 28 years with the multiple state titles, where he produced 59 collegiate players, 23 All-Americans, nine state Players of the Year and one Gatorade National Player of the Year.

The court will be resurfaced next summer with the new name. To show Dagostino what it will look like, field house llights were lowered and a spotlight with the logo, which includes Dagostino's signature above Coach Dag Court, was illuminated onto the court.

Dagostino got choked up when a message from his daughter Mackenzie, a freshman at Maryland who starred on several of her dad’s teams, was played over the loud speaker. He was also overwhelmed by the number of former players who showed up to pay homage to their coach.
