You can add Hillsborough defensive lineman Jordan Sherit to the list of Bay-area football players that will call Beaverton, Oregon home for four days.

Sherit, the 6-foot-4, 238-pound lineman, will join four other tampa-area prospects at Nike's "The Opening" 2012 camp, July 5-8, at Nike's headquarters in Oregon.

The invitation was announced over twitter.

"@TheOpening2012: S/O and congrats to Tampa Hillsborough (Fla.) DL Jordan Sherit (@JSherit17) on his invite to the 2012 ‪#THEOPENING‬ @usnikefootball"

Wharton's Vernon Hargreaves III, St. Petersburg Catholic's Ryan Green and Armwood's Leon McQuay III and Alvin Bailey have also been invited to the event. Nike hosts some of the top football players in the class of 2013, as well as some of the most highly-rated underclassmen in the nation.

According to their website, The Opening presented by Nike Football is a four-day event that involves training, coaching and competition for the country's elite football talent. Some of the NFL's most recognizable stars will be in attendance. Last season, Jerry Rice, Larry Fitzgerald, Ndamukong Suh, Patrick Peterson, Ray Rice and Dwayne Bowe were coach participants in a variety of drills and competitions.

Sherit is one of the most highly-touted recruits from the Bay area in the 2013 class. He currently has 35 Division I offers, but has not released a list of top schools to date. He did mention Stanford, Notre Dame, and Florida will be in his top 10 when he makes it.

Sherit, who was born in Coral Gables, spoke with Hurricanes head coach Al Golden on the phone Tuesday. As of now, he's visited Florida, Miami, USF, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. He'll be taking a trip to FSU this week, followed by Georgia and Clemson.
