The Durant Cougars came into Tuesday night's matchup against the Steinbrenner Warriors undefeated, a perfect 28-0.

But a win over the warriors would be no easy task.  Steinbrenner took them to a five-set tiebreaker earlier in the season before ultimately falling.

In fact, it was Steinbrenner who jumped out to a quick start, thanks to Junior Avery Bradshaw whos point in the first set gave her team a 8-4 lead.  Later in the match, teammate Brooke Royals set Bradshaw up for the point and a 21-14 lead.  Steinbrenner would go on to take the first set 25-18.

The second set remained close as Durant's Lexi Thompson helped her team grab an 8-7 lead.  Later in the set, Thompson came up big again as her spike gave the Cougars a 12-11 advantage.  The set would go back-and-forth before Steinbrenner pulled in front late and closed the door with a 25-21 set win.

With their season, and perfect record on the ropes, Durant found themselves down 23-21 in the third set.  Cougar senior, Lexi Thompson tried to will her team to a victory closing the margin to one with her late point.  But Steinbrenner junior Lauren Heldt sealed her team's fate with a big spike and the warriors march on to the regional finals against Lake Nona Saturday at 2pm.
