Buster Davis' stint as Admiral Farragut head football coach was short lived.

Davis, a former FSU linebacker, was hired in early February to take over the program, but resigned on Thursday, Athletic Director Matt Thompson said.

“We have accepted the resignation of Coach Davis,” Thompson said in a school press release. “ We thank him for his contributions he made to our football team during spring practice, and wish him well in his future endeavors.

The 29-year old took over for Chris Miller, who has since been hired at Seminole. Davis was hired on Feb. 8. Here is BHSN's original article on Davis' hiring.

Two weeks ago, Davis' squad lost 35-6 to Berkeley Prep in their spring game.

In the statement released from the school, Davis said "I want to thank Admiral Farragut Academy for the opportunity to serve as their head football coach.  It is an experience I will never forget.  Relocating proved to be too much of a hardship for my family. Therefore, I am going to pursue other opportunities.”

The school will once again begin the process of hiring a new football coach. Thompson said that process will begin immediately. The job will be posted on Friday and the school will accept applications until June 21. Thompson also added they may look internally.

The Blue Jackets are only two years removed from an appearance in the Class 2A state championship game. In 2011, Admiral Farragut advanced to the title game with a 10-game winning streak before losing to North Florida Christian. Last season, the Blue Jackets finished 8-2 and missed out on the postseason.
