Former Lakewood Star Bernard Reedy, now a Toledo Rocket was named second-team All-American as a kick returner in college football expert Phil Steele's annual preview issue.

Reedy ranked 16th in the nation in kickoff returns last fall, averaging just under 28 yards per return. His three touchdowns were tied for the lead nationally.

Reedy is also a candidate for the Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation's top receiver. Last season, he was first team All-MAC conference at wide receiver when he caught 88 passes for 1,113 yards and 6 touchdowns. He was a first team punt returner(11.1 yards per return) and second team on kickoff returns.

Toledo opens their season on August 31 at Florida when they face the Gators at the Swamp. It will be the Rockets first ever contest against a Southeastern Conference opponent.

Toledo also has another former local star on the roster in Plant's Phillip Ely. Ely, who transferred from Alabama in the off-season, must sit out 2013 and then will have two years of eligibility remaining.
