Largo has a new head football coach and he is someone very familiar to the program.

Marcus Paschal takes over for Rick Rodriguez, who stepped down after 14 seasons as the Packers head coach. Paschal is a 2002 Largo graduate, starring for the Packers team before playing four years at the University of Iowa and three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.

“It was a very tough decision because of the great candidates who interviewed,” said Brad Finkbiner, Largo High School principal. “Marcus stood out because of his loyalty to the program and because he wants the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of his high school coach. I am confident he will continue the great legacy of Packer football.”

Paschal will meet with the team today.

“Coach Marcus Paschal will be a great fit to lead Largo High School Football scholar athletes,” Rodriguez said. “A Largo alumnus, Marcus was a standout student athlete during his time as a Packer.  Marcus will bring in a top-notch coaching staff.  I wish Coach Paschal and the Packers well.”
