ST PETERSBURG - Lightning delayed the Countryside vs Lakewood game for about an hour, but that didn't cause the Spartan offense to get cold.  Lakewood Quarterback Ryan Davis started the scoring early when he found Adrian Adams for a score and 6-0 lead.  He then extended that lead to 12-0 when he scrambled out of the pocket and to the right side of the field.  Diving for the goal line, Davis extended his arm over pylon for the score.

Countryside came storming back in the second half to take a 23-12 lead thanks to two long runs from Dante Satcher. The senior runningback broke away for multiple 30-yard rushes in the second half as the cougars put the spartans on the ropes late.

With time winding down, Davis gave the spartans hope.  His quarterback sneak drew the spartans within three at 23-20.  A defensive stop with under two minutes to go, gave Lakewood one last chance to win it.  With Davis ready to lead his team down the field, the snap came early and caught the spartan qb off guard.  The ball rolled into the endzone where Davis recovered for a safety.

In the end, the spartan rally came up short.  Countryside wins 23-20.
