Steven Souza hit his second home run and Nathan Karns took another step toward a spot in Tampa Bay's starting rotation, helping the Rays beat the Minnesota Twins 4-2 Thursday.

Souza, an outfielder acquired from Washington during the offseason, hit a two-run drive in the fourth off Ricky Nolasco, who gave up three runs and four hits in 3 2-3 innings.

Karns allowed two runs and six hits in 4 1-3 innings in his fourth spring training start. He struck out four and walked one.

Eric Fryer drove in Minnesota's runs with a double off Karns in the second.
