The Plant High School volleyball team is loaded with talent.  But, newcomer Paola Laborda has not only found a way to contribute for the Panthers coming off the bench.  Laborda will also have a chance to display her talents on a national level.  Laborda recently received a call to participate in the 2016 USA Volleyball national prospect training block and was excited to be selected.

“Being able to be trained by the people that know everything will be great.  I'll get to know more about volleyball and what I need to do in order to be more successful.  I’ve always wanted to be there and I’ve worked so hard.  I want to do it.  I want to be on the team.”

Laborda is one of only 48 players in the nation selected for the national program.  Panthers girls volleyball varsity head coach Margeaux Sinibaldi said Laborda, who recently transferred from Evansville, IN, has made a positive impact on the Panthers’ team.

“Paola communicates a lot, which is great for her position.  In the libero position, you want to see the ultimate teammate.  And, she really brings out the best in her teammates.”

The sophomore has grown a lot under Sinibaldi and knows it's important to help the team stay focused.

“Whenever I’m in there, I’m always making sure everybody talks and that there’s a lot of communication.  So I try to share with my teammates, letting them know where to hit, where the ball is available on the court, and just trying to keep them with me.”
