Class 4A kicked off the Boys Basketball State Championships action on Wednesday.

Providence easily won the first semifinal game, while Seffner Christian took on Westminster Academy for the final spot in Friday night's championship game.

The Seffner Christian girls team have become permanent residents at the Lakeland Center. The boys were making their first Final Four appearance.

It was a back and forth battle in the first half. Seffner Christian won the boards, 23 to 18 and the turnovers, 5 to 6, but Westminster outshot the Crusaders 40 to 29 percent to take a 25-22 halftime lead.

In the second half, Westminster pulled away slightly in the third to take 43-33 lead going into the final quarter. But Seffner Christian wouldn't go away. The Crusaders kept fighting.

Senior guard Reid Walker led Seffner Christian with 12 points. The Lions had three players in double figures, led by Yale commit Paul Atkinson's 20 points. Westminster pulled away in the fourth for a 58-45 victory.

"Tonight, I felt like they played hard," Seffner Christian coach Sam Moorer said. "I couldn't have asked for anymore effort on the floor. It's just the shots weren't falling."

Westminster will face Providence for the 4A title on Friday night LIVE on Spectrum Sports at 8 p.m.
