Robinson High School junior Cassidy Renninger has been a varsity softball player for three years. Cassidy has accomplished a lot of things while playing for the Lady Knights.

"Having her on the mound, it's big for us coaches its big," says Robinson Softball coach Ed Gallio. "You know Cas is on the mound."

But one thing she has never done is beat Plant High School. As a matter of fact, Robinson hasn’t beaten the Panthers in more then 30 years.

Cassidy had a chance to change that last week, when the senior hurler took a 4-nothing lead and a perfect game into the final inning.

"I don’t know if she knew she had the perfect game going or not," said Gallio. "It was just that kind of game, I mean it was quick."

"I was really focused on the game and pitching the best I could, said Renninger. "So, I wasn’t really focused on that. I didn’t know until after I came in."

A line drive with two outs in the final inning broke up the perfection, but the final out for Cassidy and her teammates may have been even sweeter. It secured the first win over their arch-rival Plant since 1984.

"We have always wanted to beat them, so we finally got to do it. We had been preparing the past couple weeks in order to play that game, we all had. That was the most, in our minds, the most important game we had."

Cassidy and the Lady Knights are off to one of their best starts in years at 7-1, and so far, her three wins have all been by shutout.

"Cas is one of the best pitchers around in my opinion," says Gallio. "And the opinion of a lot of people."
