The UCF Knights football team is back on the field for spring ball and after having a turnaround first season under Scott Frost (6-7)—the Knights aim to fill in the gaps and build on last year’s success.

No lag time for the UCF Knights who opened up their spring football practices Tuesday bright and early at 7 a.m. Last year the team had to spend a lot of the time learning then new head coach Scott Frosts’ system and his installation process –this year the team is able to jump right in and pick up right where they left off— moving fast.

“It’s night and day –last spring our offense didn’t look good, didn’t come out as sharp as coach would have liked,” senior defensive lineman Jamiyus Pittman said. “This year they are running plays good they know the plays, know what they are supposed to be doing and getting me better..I am feeling good about what we got going on.”

Frost moved up the practice to 7 a.m. adding position coach meetings to the tail end of practice to get everyone on the same page.

“Coach Frost’s emphasis today was to be sound on the offensive, defensive and special teams,” rising sophomore Adrian Killins said. “To know what you are doing and just do everything full speed—technique, and have a great attitude and just have fun while you are on the field.”

Coach Frost also keyed in on the much needed improvement from the offensive line this spring.

“We had to play a lot of young guys on that line and this spring is big for our offensive line,” Frost explained after practice. “We need a lot of guys to step up, be more aggressive—come off the ball better –strike on the move and create some gaps for us. A lot of things are going to run smoother and a lot easier on our skill positions in particular our quarterback if we can be more solid up front.”

The team will have just over a month of spring practices before the spring game comes on April 22nd.
