BELLEAIR BLUFFS, Fla. — A series of arguments over several days escalated to a fatal shooting of a Belleair Bluffs man on Saturday, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

  • David Murray Biggs is charged with first-degree murder
  • Deputies say they found Darius Johnson shot dead in his home

Detectives with the Sheriff's Office said in a news release that 22-year-old David Murray Biggs and Darius Johnson, 24, had been arguing for the past couple of days and that it intensified into threats.

At around 12:30 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to a home on East Overbrook Street in Belleair Bluffs over a report of gunshots.

When they arrived, they found Johnson dead in the home.

Investigators have determined that Biggs drove to Johnson's home earlier that day, and the two began arguing outside. During the fight, Biggs pulled out a gun and began firing at Johnson, who retreated inside the home. But Biggs forced his way in and continued firing at Johnson, kiling him, they said.

Biggs, of Clearwater, left the home, but was soon taken into custody by deputies.

Biggs was taken to Pinellas County Jail and is being held on first-degree murder charges.
