ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Musical theatre fans in St. Petersburg will have a rare opportunity to enjoy a show still in its infancy next week at Studio@620.

The studio, which has been around for 15 years and has encouraged creativity through just about every artistic platform, will host a first stage reading of "Rhythm of Life," a new musical from composer Matt Giordano.

Studio@620 describes the performance as "an exciting time—when an audience first gets to witness the ideas of a writer combined with fresh talents from the performers."

Giordano started his musical career as a drummer. He told us drumming provides him with a very unique escape from a physical affliction.

“I have Tourette syndrome, so I have twitches and stuff that I can't help," he explained. "And when I drum it's one of the only times I don't have my symptoms."

In fact, drumming helped Giordano so much that he created his own company, Drum Echoes, in order to use drums to help others.

Giordano's "Rhythm of Life" takes the stage at Studio@620 on Monday, August 19, at 7 p.m. For a longer preview of the show, watch the video above!
