Ahead of one of the most pivotal elections in U.S. history, HBO Max and The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin announced the original cast and creators of the Emmy- and Peabody-winning hit drama series will come together for A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote, which will debut on the streaming service this fall.

The unique reunion special will feature a theatrical stage presentation of the “Hartsfield’s Landing” episode from the show’s third season. The creative team organized this historic production in order to raise awareness for and support the vital mission of When We All Vote, a non-profit, nonpartisan organization co-chaired by Michelle Obama which was founded to increase participation in every election in America.

Allison Janney, Dulé Hill, Janel Moloney, Rob Lowe, Bradley Whitford and Martin Sheen will reprise their original roles. A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote will also feature special guest appearances, including a special message from When We All Vote co-chair Michelle Obama.

Sorkin will write original material for the upcoming special, while Thomas Schlamme, a frequent director of the original series, will direct. “Tommy and I are incredibly excited to be getting The West Wing cast back together for this staged reading and to support When We All Vote in their efforts to get all of us involved in this election," Sorkin said.

A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote will shoot over multiple days at the Orpheum Theatre in downtown Los Angeles in early October. The production will strictly follow COVID Safe Way Forward Protocols.

Running for seven groundbreaking seasons, The West Wing followed the lives of frenzied staffers in the White House. Sorkin created the series and served as an executive producer with Emmy winners Schlamme and John Wells (ER, Shameless).
