Not the TGIF weekend, but the superstar recording artist The Weeknd - the performer at this weekend’s Pepsi Superbowl LV Halftime Show.

Super star recording artist The Weeknd addressed reporters from a Tampa virtual news conference, and he’s got fond memories of Cigar City.

“The crowd here is insane and they don't sing the lyrics back. They scream it back at you. It's such it's such an experience. I love Tampa.”

The Weeknd remained tight-lipped about the show’s unique aspects - he says safety pushed their choices.

“We kind of built the stage within the stadium and we're also using the field as well,” said The Weeknd. “But we wanted to kind of do something that we've never done before.”

The Weeknd also addressed why he partnered with a food delivery service earlier in the week to donate meals from a local black owned restaurant to frontline medical workers.

“I mean, I just I see that people are struggling and I want to I just want to help. I've been in that position myself, and I know what it feels like. You know, I never really had money growing up, so giving away isn't hard for me? It's very easy and it means nothing,” said The Weeknd.
