BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (CNS) — The embattled Hollywood Foreign Press Association will announce nominations for the 79th annual Golden Globe Awards on Dec. 13, pushing forward with the show despite the lack of a broadcast partner and a year of upheaval prompted by questions about the group's ethical and diversity standards.

NBC announced earlier this year it would not broadcast the Golden Globes in January — fallout from revelations about the HFPA's historical lack of Black members and questions about the group's ethical standards. Various celebrities, publicists and production houses — including Netflix, Amazon and WarnerMedia — also publicly backed away from the HFPA and the Globes in light of the revelations, first documented by the Los Angeles Times around the time of the 2021 Globes ceremony in January.

The HFPA has undergone an internal overhaul in the months since, making changes in its management structure, adding new members — six of whom are Black, implementing new ethics standards and recently hiring its first full- time chief diversity officer. The group also announced a five-year partnership with the NAACP with the goal of boosting diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry as a whole.

In October, the HFPA announced that it will move ahead with the Golden Globe Awards despite the tumultuous year, scheduling the event for Jan. 9, 2022.

The nominations announcement will be made at 6 a.m. Dec. 13 at the Beverly Hilton, the traditional home of the Golden Globes ceremony. The HFPA has yet to release any details of its plans for the 2022 awards ceremony.

"Over the last eight months, the HFPA has completely overhauled its bylaws, implementing sweeping changes from top to bottom addressing ethics and code of conduct, diversity, equity and inclusion, governance, membership and more," according to a statement from the organization included with plans for the nominations announcement. "Recently, the HFPA admitted its largest and most diverse class to date of 21 new members, all of whom are first-time Golden Globe voters."
