TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. — Some students at Florida College are being isolated in their dorms after a fellow student came down with the measles.

According to administrators at Florida College, the school is isolating students who cannot prove they were vaccinated for the highly contagious virus.

Multiple lectures and Parents Weekend events that were set to take place in late January and early February have also been canceled.

Schools officials say they are bringing four meals each day to isolated students and they are receiving daily visits from a nurse.

The school confirms that one male student was confirmed to have the virus. The Florida Department of Health confirms the infected person contracted measles during a recent trip to South America.

"It's strange walking around campus because everything seems completely normal except for the fact that there's a portion of students who are just kind of gone right now," said student Jarrett Ferguson. "But, it seems everything they're doing is in the best interest of the students and community around us."

All students who have been vaccinated are free to come and go from the campus as normal.
