We love the pictures you send us!

We get pictures every day and a lot of them we show during our newscast to help illustrate what the conditions are like across the region.  From sunrises to sunsets, fog to flooding, lightning to waterspouts…you name it, we see it here in our local area, which makes for great pictures.

There are few things we need your help with. First, take your picture in the horizontal perspective (not vertical).  Vertical can be nice in professional photography and also for scrapbooks and family albums, but it doesn’t work well on TV.

TVs, computer monitors, and movie screens are all in the horizontal perspective so vertical pictures or videos don’t show well.

Don’t go overboard with "filters." We understand there are a lot of filters/editing software now available on smart phones to edit pictures.  I’ve used them myself and found them to be cool.

However, try not to go overboard with it. If a picture looks overly edited or “too good to be true” we won’t be able to use it.  Ideally, the original untouched picture is what we like to show because it best portrays what the conditions were really like.

Lastly, please don’t take pictures while driving. (It’s okay if a passenger takes the picture.)  Any pictures taken while driving, we don’t show on the air.

With that out of the way - send us your pictures as we love to see them and show them off!
