GIBSONTON, Fla. -- An accused hit-and-run driver is back in custody.

  • Hit-and-run injury crash
  • Accused driver bonded out Thursday, back in custody Friday
  • Jaime Castellano, 27, charged with leaving the scene, suspended license

The bond for Jaime Castellano was revoked Friday and he was taken back into custody by Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies. Castellano, 27, was arrested early Thursday after hitting an 18-year-old bicyclist and then leaving the scene.

The crash happened late Wednesday on Symmes Road near East Bay Road.

According to deputies, Castellano was driving with a suspended license last night when he struck Darvin Lopez-Mendez, who has serious injuries.

Then he drove off, deputies said, leaving the man with serious injuries.

Witnesses followed his Ford Mustang into a nearby neighborhood. Deputies said they caught Castellano trying to hide.

Castellano is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident as well as driving on a suspended license. He bonded out of jail Thursday but was taken back into custody by midday Friday.

He has previously faced charges of child abuse, domestic battery, drug charges - the sheriff’s office says his drivers license had just been suspended two weeks ago.
