TAMPA, Fla. -- Polk county deputies have now arrested the man they say shot two people, killing one of them.

Deputies were able to arrest 36-year-old James Steven "Spooky" Williams after a crime stoppers tip led detectives to his location.

The sheriff's office said the shooting started as an argument but quickly escalated.

Sheriff Grady Judd said Williams shot two men on Care Free Cove Drive just before 6:30 Sunday night between Winter Haven and Lake Alfred.

Nasir Sutton was killed in the incident. His friend, Dennie Joiner, is listed in critical condition.

Willams was arrested on his warrant for one count first degree murder, one count attempted first degree murder and one count possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
