HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. -- Two Bay area non-profits have teamed up to help young women build confidence while improving life skills.

Their goal is to help these young women, who do not have the necessary skills or resources, find jobs.

Non-profit Answered Prayers Project out of St. Pete and Enterprising Latinas in Wimauma joined together to teach vocational classes like sewing and cooking to underserved communities.

"Here, I cannot find a lot of opportunities for me and for a lot of women like me -- the Latinas," said Fanny Angulo who takes classes at the center.

This week, Enterprising Latinas officially opened its doors to its new facility and the women have already started to pack in.

"We need to help those people who need that extra income just that little bit more to get a hand up. Cause they want to make a difference in their own lives, they don't want to be handed everything, they want to do it themselves," Elizabeth Bunbury with Answered Prayers Project said.

From day one, they instill the confidence to succeed in the women.

"I was thinking I want to open my own business and I want to help a lot of women like me," Angulo said.

Classes at the center vary weekly and are free to the public.
