ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Thursday into Friday morning, with a look at conditions through the weekend.

  • Slower moving storms
  • Onshore breeze
  • Beryl stays weak

Skies will eventually be partly cloudy to mostly clear overnight.

Lows will be in the low 70s inland and mid to upper 70s near the coast.

Friday will feature scattered storms that will start a little bit earlier, but will tend to drift inland through the afternoon, so most of them end up east of I-75 later in the day.

Highs will therefore only reach about 89 to 91 before the storms start.

The storms will wind down mainly over inland areas in the evening. A few could return to the coast on outflow in the evening, though. Partly cloudy skies will become mostly clear overnight.

Lows will be in the mid to upper 70s.

A more distinct onshore breeze from the west will be with us for Saturday, which will result in a lower coverage of storms in the coastal counties, as most of the storms will be pushed inland and to the other side of the state in the afternoon to evening.

Sunday will feature lighter winds, so the storms could slowly work their way back to our side of the state.

Next Monday into Tuesday looks like neutral winds, resulting in a higher coverage of scattered storms with little movement.

Highs during that time will be in the low 90s with lows in the mid 70s.

TROPICAL UPDATE

Tropical Storm Beryl is way out in the central Atlantic and will remain weak and disorganized over the next few days as it moves westward.

This storm will not pose a major threat, as it will weaken and likely fall apart late this weekend into early next week when it moves toward the Eastern Caribbean.
