  • Barbara Beaud charged with grand theft

Barbara Beaud, 46, was charged with grand theft.

Clearwater Police were called to Frenchy's Rockaway Grill at about 3 p.m. after a diner there said she had accidentally left her $8,500 engagement ring on the table when she had left the restaurant. According to the report, she had placed the ring on the table while she put on lotion and forgot to put the ring back on.

Beaud, who had been at a nearby table, noticed the ring and took it from the table instead of turning it in, the report stated.

Police were able to view surveillance video from the restaurant and saw Beaud committing the theft. Within an hour, police were able to locate Beaud walking along Mandalay Avenue.

Beaud was arrested and the ring was returned to the owner. Beaud was released later that day on $2,000 bail.
