ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Wednesday into Thursday morning, along with a look at conditions through the weekend.

  • Some overnight showers and thunderstorms
  • Good rain chances continue
  • August gets a little hotter

A few showers are hanging on through this evening and into the morning hours. Lows will be in the low to mid 70s.

Thursday will be a lot like Wednesday, with a few showers in the morning becoming more widespread as the day wears on. Winds will be from the south to south east again and that will be the general storm motion, from south to north.

Highs will again be in the upper 80s. A similar pattern will be in place on Friday.

By the weekend, high pressure will move to our north, allowing an east wind to move into place.

This will mean more sunshine for a longer period of time as the storms will hold off until later in the day. As a result, highs will be hotter this weekend, in the low 90s.

Rain chances will remain but will be late afternoon and into the evening, coming across the state from east to west.
