Alex Jeffrey Hull, 31, of Plant City was arrested Monday and faces charges charged with several counts of sexual battery, lewd and lascivious conduct and showing obscene materials to a minor.

According to Tampa Police, the eighth-grade algebra teacher was arrested at Benito Middle School, just days before the first day of class for students.

Police said a parent of one of the children came forward, accusing the teacher of having inappropriate relationships with two students.

Investigators think the incidents happened between November 2017 to this past May.

Benito Middle School's website says Hull is an artist who incorporates art and technology in his classroom.

Hillsborough County Public Schools officials said Hull has worked at the middle school since 2014 and had no prior complaints.

District officials also said Hull isn't allowed back on the school's campus and must meet with human resources.

As of Monday night, Hull was still behind bars with no bond. Police said there's no evidence that he had inappropriate contact with other children, but they're urging parents and students who may have information in other possible cases to come forward.
