BRADENTON, Fla. — A 48-year-man was taken into custody Monday evening after deputies said he attacked an Uber driver.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, Anderson Carter was arrested after the bizarre series of events began just after 7 p.m. 

Deputies said the incident began shortly after the driver picked up Anderson from an address in west Bradenton. 

During the ride, Carter punched the driver on the right side of his face and began trying to get in the driver's seat, authorities said. 

The driver got out of the vehicle as it moving, which was witnesses by a deputy. It remains unclear if the driver suffered any injuries.

Carter then got in the driver's seat and sped off, before crashing the car eventually in a retention pond in the 900 block of 70th Drive East. Carter then got out of the vehicle and attempted to run off but deputies shot him with a Taser. 

The incident remains under investigation.
