ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. — A murder investigation stretching across two counties has led to charges against a father and daughter.

  • William Porter accused of shooting, killing neighbor
  • Pasco Sheriff: Porter and daughter drove to Polk County, dumped body
  • Porter facing murder charge; daughter, 18, charged with accessory

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, William Porter, 50, and his 18-year-old daughter Celina Marie Porter have been charged in the death of neighbor David Ray Brady, 54.

During a news conference Wednesday, Pasco Sheriff Chris Nocco described how the murder unfolded last week in a Zephyrhills mobile home park.

Nocco said William Porter and Brady were drinking at the park located in the 37000 Daughtery Road. When Brady made a comment about Porter's daughter, William Porter became angry.

An argument followed and Brady pulled out a gun. William Porter wrestled the gun from Brady and shot him, Nocco said.

Then Porter tells his daughter, "we gotta bury a body," Nocco said.

According to the arrest report, the father and daughter put the body in his pick up truck and Celina Marie Porter drove to a remote location outside of Lakeland and dumped the body in a pond. The body was found by a passerby a few days later.

Neighbors in the trailer park said they were shocked by the murder but not necessarily surprised. Some said Brady would get into fights with neighbors often but never as violently as this time.

William Porter is facing a charge of 2nd degree murder and is being held without bond. His daughter is being held on a $15,000 bond on charges of accessory after the fact.
