TAMPA, Fla. — One person died early Wednesday after a fire at a mobile home in a Hillsborough County salvage yard. 

  • One man dead in salvage yard fire
  • Fire broke out just after 3 a.m. in 1600 block of South 51st Street
  • Woman suffered minor injuries; fire under investigation

According to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, a fire broke out at the salvage yard in the 1600 block of South 51st Street. 

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 3:17 a.m. to find smoke and flames coming from a trailer within a salvage yard. The structure was fully engulfed as well as furniture and refuse from the yard.

Firefighters quickly attacked the blaze which had spread to surrounding piles of debris from the salvage yard and trees.  

The fire was put under control within 30 minutes, while fire paramedics treated one of the trailer residents for minor burns to her hand. The other resident of the structure was found dead in the mobile home.

Both the cause of the fire and the death are under investigation by the Hillsborough County Fire Marshal's Office.
