A 43-year-old Clearwater man was arrested and charged early Wednesday with driving the wrong-way on the Veterans Expressway in Tampa before crashing at a Dale Mabry Highway McDonald's.

According to Tampa police, Daniel Livoti drove southbound in the northbound lanes of the Veteran's Expressway just after midnight. Police said they received multiple 911 calls alerting them to the situation. 

Police said they then learned of a crash in the area of the Veteran's Expressway near Interstate 275 where a vehicle drove off without stopping.

More reports were the received of the same vehicle being involved in a second crash near the area of S. Dale Mabry and Horatio Street and the vehicle driver also fled from that scene.  

Police said the vehicle, with Livoti at the wheel, was then located in the drive-thru lane of McDonald's near S. Dale Mabry and El Prado Boulevard. Police said Livoti showed signs of impairment. 

Livoti was charged with DUI and hit and run.   

There were no injuries. 

The results of the DUI investigation are pending.
