TAMPA, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in locating a vehicle that may have been involved in a homicide Friday afternoon.

  • Deputies responded to scene around 2:41 p.m.
  • 24-year-old man with upper body trauma died at scene
  • Witnesses reported possible white 4-door SUV fleeing scene

Investigators now believe the incident that led to the homicide started at an apartment complex located at 8505 Lincoln Cove Drive. Witnesses at the complex reported seeing a possible white 4-door Dodge SUV fleeing the scene.

The SUV reportedly had a pink marking above the right front wheel and a Lyft sticker in the windshield.

The agency originally closed the northbound lanes of Dale Mabry Highway at Busch Boulevard on Friday for what they described as a "crime scene."

Later, deputies re-opened the two left lanes of the roadway, but continued to ask that drivers seek alternate routes as their investigation continued. It was at that time that the Sheriff's Office confirmed detectives were investigating a homicide at the location.

Investigators said the homicide occurred around 2:41 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies found paramedics trying to help an unresponsive 24-year-old man, who later died at the scene.

The man, identified as 34-year-old Michael Montalbano, reportedly had upper body trauma, according to officials.

No further information has been released. Anyone with information about the incident or the vehicle should call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.
