“When you have an everyday relationship with your child, who’s 21 years old and she vanishes off the street – literally, she was seen that morning and she’s never been seen again — it’s heartbreaking, and her family is suffering tremendously,” family friend Paul Desmond said.

Desmond also helps maintain the "Justice for Brooklyn" Facebook group. Members recently shared pictures of Peck and pleas for information on her case.

New Port Richey Police Corporal Joe Ioppolo said the day she disappeared also marked the last known activity on her cell phone. He said the then 21-year-old was known to frequent the areas of Van Doren Avenue and Leisure Lane, and was last seen in the area of U.S. 19 and Gulf Drive.

Police investigated dozens of leads and executed search warrants in the year after Peck’s disappearance, but Ioppolo said they turned up nothing. Multiple agencies took part in the investigation, including the FBI and Pasco, Hillsborough, and Pinellas County Sheriff’s Offices.

Unfortunately, there was at least a two-week delay in reporting Peck’s disappearance, according to Ioppolo, which makes the case even more difficult.

While tips that human trafficking may have played a role in her disappearance were investigated, Ioppolo said that was never confirmed.

The case is still open. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Brook Lynn Peck, who would now be 24 years old, is asked to call New Port Richey Police at (727) 815-TIPS or Crime Stoppers of Tampa Bay at 1-800-873-TIPS.
