NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — New Port Richey Police are looking for a vehicle involved in a drive-by shooting Wednesday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to the 5900 block of Illinois Avenue around 4 p.m. in response to a report of a shooting, according to the agency.

Investigators said a man was standing outside when a vehicle drove by and shots were fired in the man's direction. A number of round fired in the incident reportedly came from a 9 millimeter handgun.

Investigators also believe the victim, who has not been identified, and the shooters knew each other.

The victim was transported to Bayonet Point Regional Medical Center for treatment of a lower body gunshot wound by Pasco County Fire Rescue, according to agency spokesperson Corey Dierdorff. No one else was injured.

Officers said they're possibly looking for three suspects driving a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Jeep Grand Cherokee.
