Two people are charged with aggravated battery after St. Petersburg police say an Uber driver was badly beaten.

  • David Moorer, 17, Salvatore Henderson, 21, face charges
  • Uber driver beaten in parking lot of McDonald's
  • Driver is in critical condition at local hospital

David Moorer, 17, and Salvatore Henderson, 21, were taken into custody.

The incident occurred about 8:40 p.m. at a McDonald's parking lot on 34th Street North.

Uber driver Marvin Carroll, 47, was called to the restaurant. When he arrived, according to police, several teens and young men got into his vehicle, including Moorer and Henderson.

A relative at the scene told Carroll not to accept them because Moorer had been reported as a runaway earlier in the day.

Carroll demanded that everyone get out of his vehicle. Police said Moorer and Henderson refused and began hitting Carroll.

Carroll was knocked down and hit his head on the pavement. Police said he is in critical condition at a local hospital.

Moorer and Henderson left the scene but were arrested a short time later.
