ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Avenue is a popular location in downtown St. Petersburg.

The casual location bills itself as a neighborhood hangout. Patrons can enjoy sports, cocktails, local bands or DJ.

And plenty of food - including a unique burger that's plenty sweet: The McLovin’ Dessert Burger.

Ingredients

1 brioche bun

1 banana

¼ cup brown sugar

Optional -1 shot of rum for a flambe’

2 tablespoons butter

2 strips peppered bacon

4 oz. peanut butter

6 oz. pancake batter

3 oz. chocolate topping

3 oz. powdered sugar

Oil for frying

4 oz. funnel cake fries (side dish)

3 oz. Funfetti sugar glaze (side dish)

Directions

Prepare pancake batter, and set aside.

Cut one banana lengthwise and then in half.

Toss the four pieces in brown sugar.

Add butter to a saucepan and brown.

Add bananas and brown them.

If you are skilled enough, you can add a shot of rum and then ignite it to cook off the alcohol but leave a little boozy flavor. There will be flames, so you need to be skilled enough to perform this cooking procedure.

Fry two pieces of peppered bacon.

Toast your bun.

To assemble: on one side, smooth on peanut butter, add bananas and bacon.

Coat the sandwich in pancake batter, and fry till golden brown about 2-3 minutes, turning once.

Drizzle with chocolate sauce and top with powdered sugar.

The Avenue serves this with funnel cake fries and Funfetti sugar glaze.
