ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Showers and storms, some strong at times, swept across the Bay area Sunday afternoon.

The storms left some damage across the area, with down trees and power lines down in multiple counties, debris in many locations and power outages in several areas.

The strong winds knocked down trees and power lines in the 1100 block of Norwood Avenue in Clearwater. There were no injuries.

Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued for multiple Bay area counties.

According to Chief Meterologist Mike Clay, severe storms caused another meteotsunami earlier Sunday of about 1.5 feet at Clearwater Beach. We've seen a number of these with storms recently, he said.

Inland showers are possible this evening. The onshore winds continue tonight, so there will be a chance late tonight for some showers or a storm along the coast.

Thunderstorm warnings were issued earlier in the day and Pinellas County briefly was under a tornado warning before 1 p.m.

The heavier rains are more likely on Florida's east coast and our inland locations later in the day.

Monday morning will be warm and muggy with some fog. Lows will be near 70 north to low to mid 70s around Tampa.

The southerly winds continue on Monday, but will be lighter.  A few showers or storms will be possible around midday as the sea breeze forms, not far from the coast.  These storms will move inland on southwest winds. Highs will be in the upper 80s to around 90 inland.

Starting Tuesday, winds will become easterly. Winds will be light allowing for a sea breeze. Expect storms to start a little later in the day. Chances will continue into the evening. With some drier air overhead, the coverage of storms will be low.

Wednesday and Thursday look very similar. Temperatures will be near 90 inland to mid-80s near the coast. There will be a couple sea breeze storms in the afternoon to evening.

On Friday, a bit more moisture moves in overhead, so there will be a few more storms in the afternoon and evening.

It will stay warm and humid to finish the work week.  There will be some sea breeze storms in the afternoon to evening over next weekend.
