BRANDON, Fla. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office continues to search for a man believed to be connected to a bank robbery and shooting.

  • Authorities searched apartment complex for 5 hours Friday
  • Bank was robbed Friday morning; 2 people were shot
  • Anyone with information is asked to call Sheriff's Office

Authorities spent more than five hours at Brideport Apartments on Creekridge Drive Friday looking for the alleged robber but said he was not located there.

Deputies believe the man may have used another vehicle to flee from the apartment.

Two people were shot during the Friday robbery at GTE Financial in Brandon. Both suffered non-life threatening injuries and are in stable condition.

Sheriff Chad Chronister said the man had become "increasingly violent" and said deputies will continue their search.

"This is a priority of ours," Chronister said. "Our troops will continue working. weekend doesn't mean the weekend for our deputies and detectives.

"They will continue to follow every lead. we will make it a priority until we put this individual behind bars where he belongs."

One of them is a Brinks truck driver, and the other was a Good Samaritan who attempted to stop the robber.

The bank is about a mile from the apartments.

The Sheriff's Office does not believe residents of the apartment complex are in any danger.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office at 813-247-8200.
