ORLANDO, Fla. – A "Star Trek" alumnus will be heading to MegaCon Orlando this summer.

George Takei is set to appear at this year’s convention, organizers announced Wednesday.
Takei, who was scheduled to attend last year’s event before it was canceled because of the pandemic, joins a lineup that also includes "The Lord of the Rings" cast—Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan.
More guests are expected to be announced in the coming months.
MegaCon is scheduled for August 12-15 at the Orange County Convention Center. So far, organizers have not announced what health and safety measures will be in place for the in-person event.
The event typically draws tens of thousands of fans to the convention center every year.
