Cirque du Soleil's "Drawn to Life" is celebrating its one-year anniversary since making its world debut at Disney Springs.

For one of the cast members, the show is the culimnation of years of hard work and desire to be a part of the show.

Emily Carragher portrays a villain who goes by the name of “Miss Hésitation.”  As a kid, attending youth circus camp started her obsession with Cirque.

“It’s been my dream to be an original character for Cirque since 13,” said Carragher, who is starring in Cirque’s 50th production.  "Drawn to Life" is an acrobatic journey where the stage is transformed into a giant animation table.  It draws inspiration from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 100-year heritage of storytelling.

“Playing the villain, I think is a really interesting opportunity for any artist, any performer, who wants to delve deep into maybe the darker side of themselves.”

In college, Emily took a circus class.  That led her into a circus clown program, where she knew what her future would be.  Her first job was with Ringling Brothers, and she recognized her unique line of work.

“Clowning, there’s no fourth wall," said Carragher.  "You are there in the room with the audience.”

A huge part of the “Drawn to Life” story features all-new Disney animation and an original score inspired by timeless Disney music.  In 2023, Sunday shows will be offered for the first time that include special matinee presentations.  The show is currently scheduled to run through early January 2024.
