According to Sheriff Chad Chronister, 31-year-old Angel Gabriel Cuz-Choc has been taken into custody and will be charged. Investigators believe Cuz-Choc relocated to Hillsborough County from Guatemala within the last year.

Investigators are still working to identify the adult female victim and the young child. Chronister confirmed the young victim is a little girl who looks to be 4 or 5 years old.

During a Thursday news conference, the sheriff called the crime "heinous."

Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to a trailer on Sumner Road in Dover around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday to find the adult female victim dead outside and a bloody handprint on the wall of the home. Inside, they located the young girl, deceased.

They say a roommate had returned home to the gruesome scene and called 911 immediately.

A preliminary investigation showed the killings likely happened around 3:40 p.m. when neighbors heard screams coming from the home. Neighbors told deputies they didn’t call first responders because it wasn’t out of the ordinary for that area.

Sheriff Chronister says both victims died of blunt force trauma.

During a Thursday news conference, Chronister said the suspect likely had about a three-hour head start on deputies.

He was eventually spotted leaving an abandoned bar and was tracked into thick brush nearby. Chronister said he refused to surrender, so a K-9 was used to take him into custody.

The sheriff said body cam footage of the arrest will be released.

State Attorney Suzy Lopez was on scene Wednesday night, and a search warrant was executed on the home.
