In some ways, it’s similar to baseball.

Just ask Rays’ infielder Brandon Lowe and his wife Madison.

“He’s more of the cook, he cooks, and I bake,” Madison said. “But when our spaces collide is when we have some arguments.”

Madison has always had a love for baking, but due to this past year, she took her skills to the next level.

"I actually took a class during quarantine online and just really enjoyed it, and that’s what made me start decorating cookies,” Madison explained.

It led her to create her own bakery, “Sweet and Lowe.” From custom cookies to specialty cakes, it’s been a home run hit.

"I honestly didn’t think I would get that many, I was like, 'Oh I’ll start a bakery. I’ll get one or two a week and it’ll be really fun and relaxing,'” Madison said. "More people started picking up on it and it really just took off, and I was getting so many orders that I just had to start turning people down.”

So does Brandon get involved?

"He’s the bus boy, He does all of our dishes, and he tests everything,” Madison said.

The couple met at the University of Maryland where Madison played softball and Brandon played baseball. They’ve been together ever since.

“She’s always kind of been there to normalize everything for me, she’s been steady, when I’m going bad, or stuff isn't going too well, she’s there,” Brandon said.

And now, it’s his turn to support Madison in her new venture.

"From all the stuff I asked her to do when I was in the minor leagues, to drive eight hours or five hours to come see me for a weekend, and what not, taking time our of her life to see me in these small little cities, to be able to see her really find a passion and really love doing something, anything I can to support her when she supported me through my passion,” Brandon said.

Their support of one another has been a recipe for success.

Brandon’s words of advice?

"Know who the head chef is, and make sure you’re doing everything you can to help her.”
