TAMPA, Fla. — If you loved playing with Lego bricks as a kid, you will be fascinated by a new exhibit at the Tampa Bay History Center.

  • Tampa Bay History Center presents Brick History
  • About 2 dozen historical moments recreated with Legos
  • Exhibit will be available at the center until February

“It is about two dozen moments in world history recreated in Lego bricks,” said Manny Leto with the Tampa Bay History Center.

At first glance, you may think a team put these scenes together, but it’s all thanks to the hard work of one man, Warren Elsmore from the United Kingdom.

After taking his collection through his home country, he chose Tampa as his first stop in the U.S.

“They’re just meticulously recreated, and what’s really interesting is he didn’t use any kits or anything like that,” Leto said.

If you feel inspired by Elsmore’s work, you can give it a shot yourself, creating images specific to Tampa Bay.

The History Center hopes that bringing this exhibit to Tampa will allow people to experience historical moments in a way they might not have had before.

“We have a lot of serious exhibits here at the History Center, but this is a fun way, an approachable way to present history to kids and adults,” Leto explained.

The exhibit also highlights work from local Lego artists in addition to the historical scenes. It will be at the center until February.
