TAMPA, Fla. -- Here's your Tampa area weather forecast for late Monday into Tuesday morning along with a look at conditions through Friday.

Scattered storms will decrease in coverage overnight, but there will still be a few storms coming in from the Gulf of Mexico into the early morning hours.

Otherwise, expect partly cloudy skies with very muggy conditions due to a light onshore breeze. Lows will only drop to about 80 at the beach, and mid 70s inland.

We have a different breeze this week compared to the past couple of weeks, now coming in from the west. That will allow the sea breeze to come in from the gulf quicker.

That, in turn, will allow for some scattered storms to start in coastal areas more quickly, then propagating inland as the day goes along.  Most of them will move inland and eastward by late in the day.

Highs will be near average at about 90 degrees.

The storms will die down Tuesday evening with partly cloudy skies and lows in the 70s, except about 80 near the coast.

Wednesday will again feature a light onshore sea breeze, allowing for the storms to start in coastal areas and move inland. Highs will be near 90.

There is a tropical wave passing by to our south in the western Caribbean, but it won’t develop in the short term and it won’t have anything to do with our weather. However, down the road it could develop in the western Gulf as it heads toward Texas.

Our weather from Thursday into Friday will be dictated by how much dry air Hurricane Florence pulls down on the western side as it passes.
