Sometimes all it takes is a simple smile to heal the soul.

On Sunday, a dozen little girls did just that and had a day that was made just for them.

Thanks to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and other volunteers, the girls were pampered with curls, make up, lipstick, and new dresses.

Each girl is either currently or have previously battled some form of cancer. Its a disease that doesn't produce smiles, except for when people with big hearts help the children put it behind the, at least for a moment in time.

Six-year-old Riley Morey has already been through a bout of Leukemia and now has MDS. But you wouldn't know it Sunday as she was getting her nails painted.

"It makes me feel great," Morey said.

This is the 10th year the Pediatric Cancer Foundaton has put on the project. The girls were pampered inside the Neiman Marcus store at International Plaza in Tampa.

"They can leave their homes and come for a day when they don't have to worry about a treatment," Nancy Crane, the foundations director said. "They don't have to worry about getting a doctor's appointment."

Eight-year-old Sara McCaslin has been battling a brain tumor for about a year. She travels with her family to Pittsburg every three weeks for treatment. Her mother, Laura, said any day Sara can have to herself is a great day.

"It touches my heart what they do here," McCaslin said. "And how special they make the girls feel."

The girls tried on dresses for the upcoming 10th annual Veredus Fashion Funds the Cure fashion show. The show is Saturday, March 9 at the Tampa International Jet Center Hangar #4.
