ORLANDO, Fla. – The transformation of Epcot is well underway and visitors may notice a new addition to the main entrance plaza.

What You Need To Know

  • New flags waving at Epcot in the main entrance plaza

  • The flags feature the park's six original icons

  • New background music and lighting effects

Disney has installed 12 new flag poles that now feature flags with the six original Epcot icon designs.

The flags were raised Wednesday, which also marked the start of the Taste of Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival. The flag poles are located to the left and right of Spaceship Earth.

“These icons go back to the original design philosophy of the park and represent pavilions and attractions in a vibrant new palette that is inspired by the new EPCOT neighborhoods,” Disney Imagineer Zach Riddley wrote in an Instagam post.

New background music can also be heard playing throughout the area.

Another new addition visitors might notice appears at night. A color-coordinated light ribbon now illuminates around the entire rim of the main entrance plaza. The new lighting effects also connect to the color effects from the new entrance fountain.

Ecpot’s transformation also includes new attractions including Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and a new nighttime spectacular called “Harmonious.”
