HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. -- The Pine Island observation deck, destroyed by Hurricane Hermine in 2016, has been restored and is now open to the public.

The observation deck is a popular spot for holding weddings and watching sunsets.

The total project cost was approximately $27,000.

Hermine made landfall in the Florida Panhandle in early September 2016. At the time, it was the first hurricane to make landfall in Florida since Wilma in 2005.
