A Hillsborough County teacher has been arrested for an alleged sexual relationship with a 12-year-old boy.

According to Hillsborough County Sheriff's officials, Ethel Anderson, 29, of Riverview, was charged with 3 counts of lewd battery and 2 counts of lewd or lascivious molestation. Anderson is a 5th grade teacher at Mango Elementary.

Officials said the incidents occurred between December and February at her home.

Detectives say Anderson was hired as a tutor for the child. She's accused of engaging with the boy in oral sex and sexual touching on several occasions.

Officials stressed that Anderson was not the boy's teacher. He was not a student at the school.

Anderson was arrested at her Riverview home at midnight Wednesday.

Parents at Mango Elementary say this type of incident concerns them.

"My 5-year-old daughter goes to this school and I'm yanking her out because of this. I'm not having it," Dorothy Artury.

"It turns my stomach. We've had no issues with her. She always did well with the kids, wonderful. We're just devastated about it," said Stephanie McLeod.

Anderson received the Diversity Educator of the Year award last year at Mango.

She's taught there since 2006 and has a spotless record.
