A Marion County motel considered a hot spot for drugs and prostitution will now have to pay a fine after officials said the motel just couldn't stay out of trouble.

It was back in January that the city of Ocala's nuisance abatement board approved a $2,500 fine against the Flamingo Motel, on the 700 block of East Silver Springs Boulevard.

The board said it would drop the fine if there were no reports of trouble at the motel.

But after several recent drug and prostitution arrests on the property, the motel's owners have been ordered to pay the fine.

Two incidents since January were enough to force the Flamingo Motel owners to pay up.

According to the Ocala-Star Banner, police told the board of illegal activity reported at the motel, both in April.
