Orange County Sheriff's Deputies say they have the man who shot and killed two men Tuesday.

Detectives arrested Laureano "Larry" Romero Wednesday evening in Downtown Orlando.

Romero is charged two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of DeAngelo Cox and Nick Lewis.

Lewis and Cox were found dead in Romero's home on 4th Street in Taft Tuesday. Romero was nowhere to be found.

Friends, family describe Cox, Lewis as good people

It’s the storm that catches you off guard. That’s how the pastor at St. Mary Missionary Baptist of Taft explained the deaths of 21-year-old Nick Lewis and 22-year-old DeAngelo Cox. Many packed the church Wednesday night trying to understand this tragedy.

“It’s sad that people have to go out like this. But, that’s just the way the world is,” said Cox’s basketball teammate Marcell Rose.

It’s a world that came to an end for Cox and Lewis at a house on Fourth Street. The two were alumni of the Boys & Girls Club, a place that prides itself on family and inspiration, which has been broken.

“I’m pretty good about controlling my emotions but I was pretty close to being tearful. You know, it’s a sense of loss. It feels very personal,” Club president Gary Cain explained.

Just how personal couldn’t be put into words by those who came to the Wednesday evening service. It was supposed to be a smaller gathering for Cox’s family, to remember the birthday of a cousin who recently passed away.

Nick Ranieri also played basketball with Cox and says they’re all in a better place.

“They were good people, always had smiles on their face. So, I know they’re in the right place. I know they’re with God, watching over us now,” said Ranieri.
